Putsborough

Staying in a Putsborough holiday cottage is a wonderful choice - this beachside hamlet is tranquil and picturesque yet within easy reach of Croyde, Georgeham and Woolacombe, and is perfect for walkers, couples, families, dog owners, and watersports enthusiasts.

Putsborough beach itself consists of three miles of golden sands and good bathing stretching north towards Woolacombe and Morte Point and south towards Baggy Point. Being to the south of Woolacombe and farther away from its hotels, shops and cafes means that the beach is usually quieter than its neighbours. Woolacombe Beach has just been voted the top beach in Britain and fifth in Europe - and there is no surprise why this is. There's a great beach shop and cafe plus toilets and shower facilities, surfboard hire is available on the beach, and dogs are allowed all year round, with some restrictions in certain areas.

And though one of Putsborough's charms is its lack of development, another is its proximity to the great pubs, restaurants, shops and attractions of Croyde, Georgeham and Woolacombe. All are within walking distance along pretty footpaths, via the South West Coast Path or along the beach itself; anyone staying in a Putsborough holiday cottage must make taking a leisurly stroll to one of the traditional pubs in Croyde, Georgeham or Woolacombe for Sunday lunch a priority - in addition to enjoying a hearty breakfast at Putsborough's beach cafe!
