North Devon boasts some of the most naturally beautiful stretches of coastline in England.  The BBC Two series 'Coastal Path' is currently featuring presenter Paul Rose walking the entire South West Coast Path and the first episode featured some of our favourite spots in North Devon!  If you missed it, catch up here https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07qb61p

Whether you are looking for a golden beach, majestic woodland or rugged cliff top. This stunning area has it all and therefore it's no surprise that it attracts many visitors searching for the perfect dog walking routes. In particular this time of year hosts some of the wildest weather for the region and if you're looking to experience a dramatic winter walk with your dog we've got you covered with a list of walks we consider to be the best along the South West Coast.

WOOLACOMBE TO PUTSBOROUGH BEACH WALK

For those looking to sample one of the most stunning stretches of beach the region has to offer, look no further. This breath-taking walk is ideal for everyone, as it's flat. If the sun is shining you are on to a winner, the dogs will love the two-mile expanse of beach that stretches from Putsborough to Woolacombe.

MORTEHOE TO BULL POINT LIGHTHOUSE

For those looking for a more secluded walk, this one is for you! It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle during the winter months. Wrap up warm and enjoy the breath-taking scenery, from distant jagged headlands to exposed clifftop heathland. This walk loops along the south west coast path to Bull Point Lighthouse and then back inland towards Mortehoe. Dogs will love the windy path, just watch out for the odd sheep!

VALLEY OF THE ROCKS WOOLAND WALK

One of the more famous areas of the British coast, the valley of the rocks is well known for its spectacular rugged visage and stacked stone towers. Dramatic cliffs and tree-clad headlands mark this area as one of the most unique on this list. Start off at the Valley of the Rocks car park and head around the cliffs for a short walk. However, for those wanting a longer route, our vote would be for the woodland walk that weaves along the coast path down to Woody bay before looping back up to Lynton.

CROYDE BEACH TO BAGGY POINT WALK

This walk is perfect for winter and a great way to sample the stunning panoramic views of the North Devon coastline. Starting from the golden, sandy beach (which does allow dogs from the 1st October to 1st May) take one of the two routes upwards to baggy point. This walk is ideal for the family, offering a choice of an easier path, perfect for those looking for a gentle stroll or alternatively the steeper path for those looking for more of a hike. For those feeling energentic, you can continue onto Putsborough and Woolacombe!
