Dog friendly holiday cottages in North Devon
Bring your pet on holiday to North Devon
Looking to bring your dog - or whatever your pet might be - with you for your holidays? Then welcome - we've plenty of dog-friendly holiday cottages in North Devon.
What makes our cottages so dog-friendly is that the cottage owners are often pet-lovers themselves, and they understand that when you come on holiday, you want your four-legged friend to come too. We believe your holiday in North Devon is a holiday for your dog too. Visits to the beach, long walks, a lovely alfresco meal - all can be enjoyed with your pet here.
Dogs are allowed on many beaches all year round, including Putsborough, Saunton, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Instow, and on some, such as Croyde, between October and Easter. Wonderful walks that must be enjoyed include those out to beautiful Baggy Point or Morte Point, and many spots in Exmoor National Park. You must also hop onto the South West Coast Path, which extends to Cornwall in the west and Somerset to the East - if you can walk that far.
Many North Devon cafes and pubs allow dogs (sometimes just in particular areas), but if you did want to go off for the day and leave your pet for a few hours, we can also recommend kennels in the area that offer a day kennel service.

Woolacombe and Mortehoe beach and walks
Woolacombe and Mortehoe are very dog
friendly areas with plenty of walks your dog will
enjoy. At Woolacombe to comply with
Blue Flag and Seaside Award criteria, dogs are not allowed between
the rocks at the north end of the beach and the stream from Good
Friday or 1st April (whichever is earliest) until the first Monday
in November. This is a very small area in comparison to the size of
the beach. Dogs must be on leads from the stream to Mill Rock
from the same dates but may be exercised without restriction from
Mill Rock onwards. The Beach is 3 miles long with wonderful sand
dunes for your dog to enjoy. View Woolacombe

Saunton Beach & Braunton
Burrows
Think dog friendly Braunton walks and Braunton Burrows
will undoubtedly spring to mind...the Burrows frame the beautiful
Saunton Sands beach and create miles of uninterrupted land for dogs
to stretch their legs!
Although dogs are very welcome to have fun exploring Braunton
Burrows, owners will need to stay close to them as there is often
livestock grazing in some areas, and occasional nesting birds on
the ground. Also, parts of the Burrows are used by the MoD for
training and live fire can be used at times, so look out for
warning flags. Just beside the Burrows, Saunton Sands is a dog
friendly Saunton beach and at 3 miles long is another excellent dog
friendly Saunton walk.
The premier surfing beach on the
North Devon coast, Croyde Bay is the centre of the North Devon
surfing scene and a popular family holiday resort. The village
centre is set back from the surf beach behind some high sand dunes,
Croyde Burrows. A great family beach, seasonal dog ban from
Easter to September. Baggy Point offers one of the best walks
in Britain with spectacular views over the coastline - the perfect
spot for your pet to enjoy some exercise. View Croyde

Lee Bay
The small rocky cove, with its imposing coastline on
either side, is regarded by some. as the jewel in the crown
of Lee. It is a refreshing change to find such a spot, that
has, as yet, remained untouched by the hand of time. At low water
even in the height of the summer it remains a tranquil spot with
its many rock pools and small sandy beach. For the more
energetic, a multitude of splendid, contrasting, local walks
stem from the village. Most are well signposted and vary in type
and length. This could be considered as one of the most rewarding
ways of experiencing the natural outstanding beauty of the
area. Whatever the season or whatever the weather, we
sincerely hope that you will enjoy your visit to our village.
Dogs are welcome on the beach all year round.
